Why DANKGEEK Decided to Stop Selling Detox Products

A few months ago, DANKGEEK made the decision to stop selling hemp products that contain emerging cannabinoids, even when those products may be technically legal.

That decision came from me, Li Avi, the owner of DANKGEEK.

I made that decision because I believe cannabis and natural hemp products should not be illegal. I also believe that, as a business owner, I have a responsibility to care about the health and well-being of the people we serve.

Humans have been consuming cannabis for thousands of years. We have a long history with the plant. We know a lot about its therapeutic effects, and we also have a better understanding of its risks. But many of these new engineered or chemically derived hemp cannabinoids do not have that same history. We do not yet know the long-term impact they may have on human health.

Because of that, I decided I could not in good conscience continue selling those products, even if it meant walking away from significant profits. I would rather wait for the cannabis and hemp we all know and love, the plant that has been part of human history for thousands of years, to become federally legal and available to all.

That same principle is why DANKGEEK has also decided to stop selling detox products.

In my opinion, many of these products are just snake oil. I do not believe most of them actually work. And even if some of them do work, I do not believe we should be encouraging people to break laws, workplace rules, or testing requirements. I do not want anyone to lose their job, their stability, or their family’s security because they trusted a detox product they purchased from our site.

On top of that, many detox products are little more than sugar water, pills, tablets, or chemicals sold with big promises and very little meaningful research behind them. That does not align with what I believe DANKGEEK should stand for.

So, moving forward, DANKGEEK will no longer carry detox pills, tablets, beverages, synthetic urine, fetish urine, or any similar products.

Hemp has been a foundational part of American history. At different points in early American history, hemp was grown, used, and valued as an important crop. This plant was not always treated like something dangerous or criminal. That changed because of politics, propaganda, and business interests that helped turn a natural plant into something illegal.

I believe that was wrong.

I encourage everyone who cares about cannabis, hemp, freedom, and personal choice to stand up for what is right. Instead of smoking fake weed, buying questionable detox drinks, or relying on products that promise to help you pass a drug test, write to your politicians. Speak up. Take an active role in the federal legalization of cannabis.

Good people should not be put behind bars for a plant. The therapeutic potential of hemp and cannabis should not be suppressed while pharmaceutical companies profit. Adults should not be treated like criminals for choosing to use a God-given plant that has healed, enlightened, and inspired humans for millennia.

I know this decision may come as a disappointment to some customers who have purchased these products from us in the past. But I believe it is the right thing to do.

I do not believe the government should have the right to decide which God-given plants can be legal or illegal, or what we as individuals can do with our own bodies and minds. As long as our actions do not harm others or society at large, we should be able to live as free people.

DANKGEEK will continue to support cannabis culture, hemp freedom, and the people who believe in this plant. But we will do it in a way that aligns with our values, our conscience, and our responsibility to our customers.
