We've published a couple of posts about products we've stopped selling: emerging cannabinoids, then detox products. Those were about what we sell. This one is about how we write about what we sell, and I wanted to put it down clearly so it's a standard, not just a habit.
DankGeek exists because cannabis culture deserves a real community, not a sanitized version of one. That's not changing. But "real" and "responsible" aren't opposites, and this is where we draw that line.
Where we've been headed
This builds on decisions we'd already made. We stopped selling CBD, THC, and other emerging cannabinoid products. We stopped selling detox products and drug-test kits. We removed our Wellness category entirely. Those choices came from the same place this policy does: we'd rather build something that lasts than chase every dollar available to us.
What we won't do
We won't make health or medical claims we can't back up. If we can't point to real evidence, we don't get to make the claim, no matter how good it sounds in a product description.
We won't write copy that helps someone evade a drug test or hide something from someone else. We've cut the products already. The language follows the same standard.
We won't treat buying from an illegal source as a joke. We can talk honestly about cannabis without normalizing that.
We won't frame our content around maximizing intoxication. There's a real difference between explaining how a product works and writing content optimized purely for getting as high as possible. We do the former. We're not in the business of the latter.
What isn't changing
Real product education stays. How temperature affects flavor, vapor density, and the overall experience of a device is useful, honest information, and it's not going anywhere because it happens to be about cannabis.
Cannabis history and culture stay. Where this plant has been, how it's been treated, what it means to the people who use it, that's part of why DankGeek exists.
Our voice stays. The jokes, the personality, the way we actually talk to our community. That was never the problem.
Themed, novelty, and character products stay. A cool design is a cool design.
How we hold ourselves to it
Every new product and collection description gets checked against the standard above before it goes live, including copy written by outside partners or agencies we work with. If we come across older copy that doesn't meet it, we fix it as we find it, rather than waiting to be asked.
This is a living standard. If our thinking evolves, we'll update it and say so.
