Chamber Power: Standard 3D vs. 3DXL
The biggest factor in how these rigs perform is the chamber. Both models use sidewall heating traces rather than heating from the bottom, which preserves flavor and prevents your concentrates from burning. However, the size and capabilities of these chambers are very different.
You can check our fill guide comparing both chamber sizes here.
Puffco New Peak: The Standard 3D Chamber
The New Peak comes equipped with the standard Puffco 3D Chamber. It delivers fantastic flavor and efficient heating, but it requires a gentle technique. You have to sip it slowly like a straw; pulling too hard can cause your concentrates to splash out of the bowl and enter the airpath.
Puffco Peak Pro: The 3DXL Chamber
The Peak Pro comes with the massive Puffco 3DXL Chamber, which features a 78% larger bowl depth. This depth allows you to load larger amounts without the mess. More importantly, the deeper walls mean you can rip the device as hard as you want. The Pro also unlocks exclusive "XL" and "Max" vapor settings through the app, keeping the temperature perfectly consistent even during heavy inhales.
Compatibility Note: The 3DXL chamber only works on the Peak Pro base. It cannot be used on the New Peak.

Controls: Preset Simplicity vs. App Customization
The Puffco Peak Pro comes with Puffco Connect App compatibility, which gives you much more control over the different settings. While the Peak comes with 4 pre-loaded heat settings, the Pro adds an extra level allowing you to set any temperature you want!
The New Peak Experience
The New Peak is purely plug-and-play. It has no Bluetooth capabilities and bypasses the app entirely. You control everything using a single button to cycle through four factory-tuned heat settings:
-
Blue (Low): 490°F — Flavor-first sessions.
-
Green (Medium): 510°F — Balanced flavor and vapor.
-
Red (High): 530°F — Heavy vapor production.
-
White (Peak): 590°F — Maximum intensity.

The Peak Pro Experience
The Peak Pro is a smart rig controlled via the Puffco Connect App. While you can use the physical button to cycle through your favorite saved settings, the app unlocks total control. You can create custom heat profiles down to the exact degree, adjust the duration of your session, modify the LED light patterns, and even activate "Stealth Mode" to turn all lights off for discreet sessions.

Power, Battery Life, and Charging
Both devices offer excellent battery life, averaging around 30 to 35 sessions per full charge depending on your temperature settings. They both take roughly 2 to 2.5 hours to charge from empty via a standard USB-C cable.
The key difference lies in wireless capability. The Peak Pro supports wireless charging and is fully compatible with the Puffco Power Dock, making it easy to keep topped off on your tabletop. The New Peak relies strictly on a USB-C cable connection.
Glass Cross-Compatibility
One of the best design choices Puffco made is keeping their glass attachments interchangeable.
Whether you buy the New Peak or the flagship Peak Pro, the base dimensions for the glass connection are identical. This means you can swap out the stock glass for any custom top on the market.
If you want to upgrade your water filtration, add a recycling feature, or simply change up the look of your setup, you can browse our full Puffco Peak & Peak Pro Glass Top Attachments Collection. Any top you choose will fit both bases perfectly.

FAQs
Does the 3DXL chamber work on the New Peak?
No, the 3DXL chamber is exclusively compatible with the Puffco Peak Pro models. The New Peak features a integrated, smaller standard 3D chamber that cannot be upgraded or swapped out for the 3DXL version.
Can I use my old Puffco Peak glass on the new models?
Yes. All Puffco Peak glass attachments are cross-compatible across every generation, including the original OG Peak, the New Peak, and the Peak Pro v1 and v2. They all share the exact same base seating dimensions, allowing you to easily swap any compatible glass tops or recyclers between devices.
How do I clean the Puffco 3D and 3DXL chambers?
To clean your Puffco chamber and prevent permanent black carbon buildup (chazzing), follow these two steps:
-
After every session: Wipe down the inside of the warm chamber with a dry cotton swab to absorb remaining reclaim oil.
-
Weekly deep clean: Unscrew the fully cooled chamber and submerge it entirely in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (ISO) for 20 minutes. Allow it to air-dry completely before reattaching. Never use 70% alcohol, as the water content can damage the heating traces.
Does the Puffco New Peak have app connectivity or wireless charging?
No. To keep the device budget-friendly and simple, the New Peak does not feature Bluetooth or app compatibility, relying instead on 4 built-in temperature presets. It also lacks wireless Qi charging and must be charged exclusively via the included USB-C cable. For custom temperature profiles and wireless charging, you will need the Peak Pro.
