Will the brushes scratch my glass?

They are built not to. The tips are covered in silicone specifically to protect glassware. Use gentle pressure anyway, especially inside narrow stems and around joints.

Can I use them to clean a water pipe?

Yes. Jane West designed the brush kit to clean larger water pipes as well as smaller pieces, which is a difference from the Cleaning Kit, where large water pipes will not fit inside the silicone bag.
