However, her outspoken advocacy had consequences—after a CNBC appearance promoting cannabis use, she was asked to resign from her corporate event planning job of eight years.

Pushing the boundaries of legal social consumption, Jane’s events drew both public attention and legal scrutiny. In 2014, her 4/20 brunch was raided by a SWAT team, resulting in criminal charges, probation, and a ban on hosting cannabis-friendly gatherings in Denver.

Despite the setback, her influence continued to grow. Women across the country began reaching out, seeking guidance on how to break into the cannabis industry. With no official job in the sector—just experience, passion, and a fresh criminal record—Jane wasn’t sure she had all the answers. But what she did have was an ability to organize and bring people together.

In 2014, she founded Women Grow, a networking platform designed to empower women in cannabis. The response was overwhelming—over 100,000 people have since attended Women Grow events, proving the demand for female leadership in the space. After two years of building the movement, Jane pivoted again, setting out to create something personal: a line of stylish, high-quality cannabis accessories for flower lovers like herself.

Her vision? A sophisticated collection of glassware, dugouts, and one-hitters that fit seamlessly into everyday life. She built her company on the values of inclusivity and representation, securing funding from small investors and ensuring that 80% of the company is owned by women and people of color. Through equity crowdfunding, she invited people worldwide to become part of the Jane West brand.
