Rupert's Drop

When Rupert's Drop is made, the molten glass is poured into extremely cold water, causing the outside of the drop to cool and solidify. This creates a tough glass bead with an inner core of liquid glass. The Prince Rupert's drops are made by melting the end of a glass rod with a high thermal expansion coefficient and letting the resulting red hot molten glass drop into cold water.
